Course Overview

Managing a high end resort, leisure or hospitality facility brings unique challenges. To flourish in that kind of environment requires a varied skillset. Whilst some of those skills can be taught, and personal behaviours be developed, owners of luxury corporations need high achievers that can hit the ground running.

This qualification will provide study centres with a significant competitive advantage over others offering generic service centred qualifications. Potential learners will value the credibility the qualification offers, whilst employers will love the job candidates you can deliver them.

A graduate from this qualification will be in high demand and the jobs available span all corners of the globe.

The curriculum being developed will have the backing of several major resort and leisure corporations. We also intend to offer articulation agreements with several U.K. universities for top-up to a master’s degree.

Our Level 7 Diploma in Luxury Resort Management is designed for those students looking to progress their career in the following roles:

General Manager
Events Manager
Customer Relations Manager
"According to the World Travel and Tourism Council, the global travel industry will add 126 million roles in the next decade... People development is at the heart of IHG Hotels & Resorts hiring strategy, where it expects to create 7,000 new jobs this year across South East Asia."

Benefits for study centres

Why you Should Deliver it

Inspiring Learning Experiences
We provide all our study centres with a full set of high-quality learning materials based around the qualification's syllabus. Combining that with excellent tutors at your centre, your learners will receive an inspiring learning experience.

Employability
We all recognise the imperative on getting learners their 'career' job of choice. Our qualification design process is anchored to current Job Descriptions of those roles. This means you deliver the skills & knowledge employers are needing today.

Progression Opportunities
Our qualifications are designed as excellent stepping stones to further progression upon completion. We will provide continuation courses at Level 4 for many of our Level 3 qualifications, whilst our Level 7 learners can easily progress to a master's degree. We are looking to announce articulation agreements with several U.K. and U.S. universities in the coming months.

Attractive Fee Structure
We will be seeking to secure funding for the qualification in due course and since we provide all of the learning materials, this significantly reduces a study centre's resources.

Aligning to Skills and Digital Strategies
All of our qualifications have work based skills at their heart. We believe this is the best way to prepare learners for the world of work. Furthermore, the U.K. Government is prioritising digital skills across the educational offer. All our qualifications address that strategy.

How is it Delivered?

The Diploma is studied at an approved study centre provider and is equivalent to 120 credits, all at RQF Level 7, should they wish to continue studying beyond the successful completion of the course. Subject to approval by our Centre Evaluation Team, study centres can deliver our qualifications using the following modes of delivery:

Classroom based -
Full-time or Part-time

Part-time learners must receive the same number of Guided Learning Hours (GLH) as full-time learners and have the same assessment methods. Learners simply have longer to complete the qualification.

Blended learning

Blended learning comprises a combination of face-to-face delivery with some remote delivery which will typically be through online learning. For BQSL to approve blended learning, at least 25% of the delivery must be face-to-face. This will allow for practical course work, group work and practical elements of assessments that require a physical presence. Face-to-face can be delivered in an online environment. More typically, we would expect delivery to be in the classroom. Also, blended learning requires the same GLH as classroom delivery and learners will face the same assessment methods.

Online

The online qualification is a separate qualification suffixed with (online) at the end of the title. Online qualifications typically have a lower number of GLH and may use different methods of assessment. However, both the TQT and syllabus will be the same and the means of assessment will have been evaluated and approved for equivalency (to its classroom based alternative).

What Learners Study

Learners complete four units which combine research and intellectual enquiry with advanced practical skills required in the workplace. Collectively learners exit with a qualification that explores the full range of technical, academic, intellectual, and personal skills required for a management role at a resort organisation that demands excellence.
These are:

  • LRM701 / Cognitive  Behaviour Analysis / 30 Credits
  • LRM702/ Customer  Service Excellence / 30 Credits
  • LRM703 / Elite  Leadership / 30 Credits
  • LRM704 / Advanced  Diplomacy and Influencing Skills / 30 Credits

course structure

Learner and Centre Commitments

The total qualification time (TQT) for the course is 1,200 hours. The total guided learning hours (GLH) are 160 hours for classroom / blended delivery and 100 hours for the online equivalent. As a guide, consider the table below when determining how much time you can commit to the qualification:

A learner who achieves the qualification over 12 months will be expected to have studied an average of 100 hours per month (including independent learning). This provides learners with the flexibility to work part-time alongside studying for the qualification. Learners who study over 2-3 years could be expected to fit their studies around a full-time job and/or family commitments.

Assessment is undertaken using a breadth of methods to reflect the practical nature of the qualification. These include role play; group presentations; self-reflection; portfolio of evidence, and case study reports.

BQSL provides its study centres with course materials and set the assessments. Centres are required to deliver those materials, oversee assessments, and provide first marking and moderation.
